As of March 20, 1995 Charlie Arant became President of the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the world’s largest freshwater aquarium.
In 1992 after 28 years of service with IBM, Charlie chose to take advantage of an IBM Early Retirement Program. During his 28 years with IBM Charlie had served in various sales and marketing management assignments in both field and headquarters locations of IBM. His responsibilities had included national and international product management, marketing training, regional management as well as branch sales management. His last assignment was Branch Manager of the IBM location in Chattanooga.
Charlie is heavily involved in community service in Chattanooga. He is currently the Chairman of the RiverCity Board, Past Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Board and serves on the Board of Memorial Hospital, First Tennessee Bank,CreativeDiscoveryMuseum, United Way and Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Charlie’s’ educational background includes an undergraduate degree from Auburn University, an MBA from Louisiana State University and graduation from the IBM Advanced Management School in Sands Point, New York.
